A retired employee with the State Department of Labor, she pursued her passion of teaching by
earning a degree in education from Northeast Louisiana University in 1996. She had been
teaching for the past seven years at Columbia Elementary School, in Columbia.
She was a member of Welcome Home Baptist Church in Hebert for more than 30 years. She was
also an active member of the Laubach Literacy Program and loved sharing and teaching others
how to read.
Mrs. Stovall is survived by her three sons, Sam Stovall and wife Lou, Hartland, Wis., Tom Stovall
Jr. and wife Virginia, Houston, and D. Logan Stovall and wife Sherri, Hebert; a daughter, Karen
Stovall Rocklage and husband Curtis, Mandeville; two brothers, Mr. and Mrs. John Housley,
Hebert, and George Louis Housley, Monroe; two sisters, Teresa Housley, Hebert, and Theo Mae
Hargrove and husband Ralph, Jackson, Miss.; two sisters-in-law, Ophelia Housley of Wisner and
Merle Housley of Hebert. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Summer Joy Garner, Matt
Garner, John Michael Stovall, Kimberley Stovall Schulze and Alexa Ashland McGuffee; and four
great grandchildren. Mrs. Stovall was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas N. Stovall Sr.;
her brothers, Sollie A. Housley, Murphy Housley and O.T. Housley; a niece, Cindy Lynn Housley;
and her grandson, Marcus Lee Garner.
